Working Conversations Episode 64:

10 Ways Kayaking is Like Difficult Conversations

Can you feel the summer breeze?

Perhaps you live in another part of the world and the summer is over, or maybe the summer hasn’t yet started in your area, but here in Minnesota, we’re now enjoying the early days of summer.

You might be wondering why I relate summer to the Working Conversations Podcasts, where I focus on leadership, business communication, and trends in organizational life.

Well, just recently, I was on a lake kayaking, and I drew parallels to how kayaking is like holding difficult conversations, which is a topic I am always passionate about.

In this episode, I share observations I had from my experience in kayaking – from doing the hard part to taking risks and discovering unexpected surprises along the way. And as always, I shared step-by-step advice on how to take difficult conversations further than you thought you could while experiencing success along the way.

Whether you are a skilled kayaker, or an average one like me, you will find some lessons in holding difficult conversations. And if you are not a kayaker, this episode might inspire you to get out on the water or do some other activities you enjoy whatever season you are in.

Ready to get inspired to hold those difficult conversations?

Listen and catch the full episode here or wherever you listen to podcasts. If you have questions or topics you’d like me to discuss, I am very open and would love to hear your ideas for what to cover on the Working Conversations Podcast.

I hope that these 10 lessons help you as much as they’ve helped me be better at holding difficult conversations. Remember, we get better the more repetitions we put in.
